“With the amendments to the Law on Dual Education, we will ensure the quality of the educational process by connecting theory and practice and by increasing the number of hours young people spend in the modern real working environment of companies”, Director of the Office for Dual Education and the National Qualifications Framework, Prof. Gabrijela Grujić said today in Leskovac.
At the public debate on the Draft Law on Amendments to the Law on Dual Education, attended by the Minister of Education Branko Ružić and the Mayor of Leskovac Goran Cvetanović, Mrs Grujić spoke about the most important changes foreseen in the Draft.
“Increasing the number of hours young people spend in companies also increases the chances that after finishing school they will get employment in that same company or start their own business based on the knowledge they have acquired. The competences that young people will acquire in this way will provide them with a certain and successful career, while on the other hand it will provide companies with sustainability and innovation. It is also significant that, according to the changes foreseen by this Draft, employers will be able to count on a simplified procedure in order to enter the dual education system. Our goal is to improve the existing solutions and ensure a significantly higher quality of education.” Mrs Grujić said.
Director Grujić has pointed out that the important changes foreseen in the Draft are the introduction of the evaluation of the quality of work-based learning, but also the granting of the status of a training centre for schools.
“The school and the employer will implement the “Work-based learning programme” together in order to ensure the monitoring of which learning outcomes can be realized in companies. In addition, the introduction of the status of a training centre in the education system is extremely important, so that they can bring new, developmental dimension in the connection of education and the economy. New solutions give employers the opportunity to join the Alliance, in order to achieve all learning outcomes, if they do not have the conditions to achieve them individually. Alliances will also enable small businesses to join the dual education system.
The public debate will be held from March 17 to April 6, 2023. The most important changes envisaged by the Draft are: the possibility of increasing the number of hours of work-based learning, namely 60 percent for three-year educational profiles and 40 percent for four-year ones; simplification of accreditation for employers for work-based learning; formation of combined classes; evaluation of the quality of work-based learning; defining the competence and role of the Office for Dual Education and NQFS; introducing the status of a training centre for schools; introduction of Training Alliance of Employers; legal basis for financial support for dual education.
Today’s event, hosted by the Higher Business School of Vocational Studies in Leskovac, was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Education, the Office for Dual Education, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia, the City of Leskovac, and numerous schools and companies from this part of Serbia.
After Novi Sad and Leskovac, the public debate on the Draft Law on Amendments to the Law on Dual Education was held today in Belgrade, where the participants have reiterated that the new solutions will ensure a better quality of the educational process by connecting theory and practice and by increasing the number of hours that young people spend in the modern, real-life working environment in companies.
Director of the Office for Dual Education and the National Qualifications Framework, Prof. Gabrijela Grujić, points out that one of the most significant changes is the increase in the number of hours that young people will spend in companies. A she has underlined, in this way, young people will acquire competencies that will provide them with a certain and successful career, while companies will be provided with sustainability and innovation.
“With a greater number of hours spent in a real working environment, the chances that the company will offer employment to the young people after finishing school are also higher. Even if they do not decide to get employment in the company where they did the practical part of the teaching, with the knowledge they acquired the young people will be able to start their own business more easily,” Mrs Grujić said.
